Islands of Adventure New Ride – Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure {Update Now Open}

Wizarding World of Harry Potter Roller Coaster

Islands of Adventure’s new ride will debut on June 13, 2019. Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure will be the newest top attraction in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort.

Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure roller coaster will be replacing the former Dragon Challenge at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. This top attraction will be found in Hogsmeade at the Islands of Adventure theme park.

Hagrid's motorcycle and sidecar

Obviously judging by the name of this attraction, the ride vehicles will be styled after Hagrid’s famous motorbike and sidecar. Riders will have a choice of sitting up on the motorcycle as Hagrid did or sitting down in the sidecar as Harry Potter had ridden. You will journey through the Forbidden Forest which will be filled with magical creatures from the world of Harry Potter.

These rare magical creatures include the Green Man, Merpeople, Grindylows, Centaur, Cornish Pixies, Fluffy the three-headed dog, and much more.  Plus, there will be a new introduction to the rarest creature not seen in any of the films.  Blast-Ended Skrewts!  Blast-Ended Skrewts are being brought to life for the first time.

There are rumors that you might see the Great Hall, Hogwarts’ kitchen area, portrait gallery, and the carriage stables for the thestrals. This is per Alicia Stella who is a great source for theme park scoops.

I do know for sure that you will join in on Hagrid’s Care of Magical Creatures class before boarding your motorbike and flying through the Forbidden Forest.  Yes, this is a real forest.  With 1200 real live trees.  This will be amazing!

We now know you’ll enter ruins that have been abandoned behind Hagrid’s hut near the edge of the Forbidden Forest. You’ll discover some of Hagrid’s treasured belongings therefrom Hagrid’s Care of Magical Creatures class. There are dragon eggs that are about to hatch and a nursery where his Blast-Ended Skrewts were kept.

Preshow has Professor Rubeus Hagrid along with Fang and Arthur Weasley to start you on your journey.

Then the muggles Care of Magical Creatures class will head to the Forbidden Forest aboard an enchanted motorbike.  Along the way expect to run across some of the wizarding world’s rarest magical creatures. So keep your eyes open…that is if you can!

This story coaster is going to catapult you 65 feet into the air at a more than 70-degree angle before immediately dropping you backward.   I don’t know if I can keep my eyes open for that.

True this roller coaster track has no giant hills, no upside-down loops, but it does have multiple launches and innovative maneuvers, which include vertical and backward, along with an indoor elevator-style drop.  All at speeds of up to 50 mph.  This story coaster will appear deceivingly fast.  Front motorbikes are more thrilling,  but the back will offer a longer look at your surroundings.  Unless of course, you are going backward…

These maneuvers have never been combined into one roller coaster. Such as going up several stories and then falling backward, doing a backward drop. There’s no other top Orlando attraction quite like it.

Ground-Breaking Coaster Has Many Record Firsts

  • Most launches of any roller coaster in the world. There are seven in total.
  • This is the longest roller coaster in Florida. It’s nearly a mile in length.
  • The first coaster in the United States to have a free-fall vertical drop of nearly 17 feet.

Universal Orlando Resort is referring to Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure as a family-friendly, highly-themed roller coaster constructed by Intamin. But…I would say this Islands of Adventure new ride is not for wimps. At least not from the sounds of it.

Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure roller coaster will officially open June 13, 2019, according to Universal Orlando Resort. But there is always a good chance that there will be a soft opening. Check back for updates.
